Trout Maps / Account information
Privacy at Trout Maps.
Here’s what the atlas uses to sign you in and what your browser keeps for your next trip.
Your account
We use your email address to identify your account. If you use an available Apple or Google sign-in option, that provider can share an account identifier and basic profile details such as your email, display name, and profile image.
Neon stores account and session records, including linked sign-in provider information. A session cookie keeps you signed in. Session records can include your IP address and browser details. We use IP information to limit repeated sign-in attempts.
Sign-in services
When you request an email code, Resend receives your email address and the code message so it can deliver it. When you choose Apple or Google, that provider handles the identity check. Vercel hosts Trout Maps and processes requests to the site.
Saved waters and notes
Your bookmarks, field notes, and trip dates stay in this browser. The atlas keeps them separate for each signed-in account on the device. You can remove a bookmark, clear an individual note, or download a note as a text file.
Clearing the browser’s site data removes your local saved waters and notes. Download any notes you want to keep first.
Location and map services
If you choose the location control and grant your browser permission, the atlas uses your current position to centre the map. You can manage that permission in your browser settings.
The optional Street map requests tiles from OpenStreetMap for the area you’re viewing. Directions and source links open other websites, where those services handle the requests.
